How to Connect Domain to Squarespace
Getting your domain registered with Squarespace is easy – all you have to do is log in to Google and visit your Domains section. Select the Squarespace option and go to “Set up your domain”. In this window, you can choose your name server and select your domain. Then, go to the DNS panel and click on “Manage custom records.” After you have selected your domain, you will see a box where you can paste the unique code from the Squarespace DNS settings.
After you have completed this step, you’ll be prompted to enter your authorization code to complete the transfer. Copy this code and proceed. Next, log into your Squarespace account and visit your Domains panel. In the Domains panel, click on the Settings tab. Click on the drop-down menu, then select “Domains”. From the list, choose “Use a domain I own.” Enter your domain name in the field and click on “Enter domain” to continue. You’ll then see a panel with the records you need to enter in the provider’s database. Save the records.
Once the DNS settings are in place, you can add the domain to Squarespace. Ensure that your domain is using Google’s default nameservers, and restore the custom settings. You don’t want to delete your MX records, since these are what connects your email address to your domain. If you accidentally delete the MX records, your email service will be affected, so it’s best to leave them in place.
